Dr Phuti Chelopo-Mgobozi is passionate about the Bioeconomy sector, focused on strengthening the Biotech/Health-tech Start-up ecosystem. She is also an active advocate for the elevation of African Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)-based bio-innovations.
She currently works as an Innovation Specialist: Bioeconomy at the Innovation Hub Management Company, where she is responsible for the execution of innovation programmes and thought leadership events in the Bioscience / Health sector. Her keys tasks include project management, identifying & strengthening strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, supporting BioPark and AgriPark initiatives and managing skills development programmes in bio-entrepreneurship. This is done through programs such as the Gauteng Accelerator Program (GAP) Innovation Competitions and an IKS CoachLab Entrepreneurship Programme.
She is also the founder and a scientific officer of Azanzi Health Solutions, a private company that focuses on the landscape of pharmaceuticals, on healthcare technology and scientifically-proven solutions to high-burden diseases across Africa. Dr Chelopo-Mgobozi has acquired several achievements that set her apart as a young scientist/researcher, and several media platforms have featured her as a trailblazer. She also served as an accelerating Vice President of Membership (VPM) for the Pretoria East Toastmasters Club.
