Vulva Vie Is A World First Spa Experience With A Feminine Difference

Vulva Vie is the world’s first-ever intimate spa dedicated to women’s intimates.   When we say intimate, we are referring to those intimate parts of our body that are often shrouded in secrecy and sometimes even embarrassment.  Now a passionate businesswoman and beautician has created a spa experience like no other.

The Vulva Vie treatment experience

The Vulva Vie beauty spa service menu includes terms like vajacials, vaginal rejuvenation, vaginascaping, tightening, lightening, and butt-facial and pelvic-floor treatments for stress urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. It also offers sophisticated med-tech face and body-tightening and sculpting treatments.

I was rather intrigued by the idea that you could rejuvenate your feminine parts in a spa setting. I was especially interested in the medical technology aspect of the spa service, so when provided with an invitation to visit the spa in a leafy venue in Pretoria, South Africa, I opted for the vagina-tightening treatment using the BTL Emsella chair.

Why a women’s wellness spa like this?

Owner Monica van Heerden is the passionate and powerful force behind the venture. Vulva Vie offers a complete service, including a day spa, a full e-commerce site, and a training academy. Given that nothing like it has existed before, the training academy has been set up to train other qualified beauty therapists to perform these bespoke treatments.

What was the experience like?

My vulvatician took me through to a treatment room, where all I had to do was sit down on a chair, fully clothed. Simple! I’d read the scientific literature before I opted for the treatment, so I knew about the technology of the device.

In summary, the FDA-cleared BTL Emsella is a modern technology for women designed to strengthen pelvic muscles and reduce incontinence without drugs or surgery. The technology uses a high-intensity electromagnetic field to activate motor neurons located in the pelvic floor.

A single 28-minute session results in 11 200 pelvic-floor muscle contractions, which have the effect of performing the same number of Kegel exercises. I am not a believer in sticking yoni eggs or other such devices into my intimate parts as is the rage currently. And there is no way I could do 11200 Kegel exercises in just under 30 minutes.

Pelvic floor wellness

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that sits at the base of the pelvis, supporting our reproductive organs, bladder, and rectum. It helps to control our bladder and bowel movements.

After pregnancy and birth, most of us will lose some laxity in this area. And even if you haven’t had a baby, the muscles of your pelvic floor will eventually weaken over time, just as the rest of your body does as you age. “If you don’t use it, you lose it” also applies here.

But it’s much more difficult to keep your vagina fit than your body. You can do specific pelvic-floor exercises, as well as Kegel exercises. But even a super-athlete couldn’t do Kegels the way this machine works for you. It’s not called the “The Kegel Throne” for nothing.

What does it feel like?

I experienced some tingling and pelvic-floor muscle contractions during the procedure. However at no point was I uncomfortable. There is absolutely no downtime either. I was able to get back in my car, drive to work, and carry on my day as normal.

How soon will you see results?

While I don’t suffer from incontinence or sexual dysfunction, I can’t attest to any specific changes after just one session, but I’m a great believer in prevention is always better than cure.

Which is why I’ll go back to sit on the “Kegel Throne” again. Reports globally on the device confirm that it will help you get your lady parts back in great shape over the course of regular treatments.

The overall experience at Vulva Vie was enjoyable, feminine-friendly, and fun.

Look after your lady parts

A typical treatment takes 28 minutes, and you’ll need three to six sessions for it to be effective. The only downside is that there is currently only one Vulva Vie spa, in South Africa. But watch their space. We’re sure more Vulva Vie outlets will launch in the coming year.
